What You Need to Study at Quilt University

We are aware that not everyone has a high speed internet connection.  We keep the length of all lesson segments convenient for those with dial up connections and small enough not to overwhelm your printer.

JavaScript must be enabled on your browser for you to see and use the password box.  You receive a new password each time you register for a class.  JavaScript is enabled by default when your browser is installed.  Unless you or someone else disabled it, don't worry about this.

To print your lessons, the Print Preview function on the File menu in Internet Explorer or Firefox sometimes works better than using the Print icon on the browser's toolbar.  We have found that Internet Explorer Print Preview is smart enough not to split pictures between pages and provides the best print quality.

You need an understanding of how to use message boards, email attachments and other basic computer and internet functions.  A brief explanation of these is included in the Computer Glossary in our Library.

Some of the classes include template patterns.  In order to assure that patterns print out in the correct size, they are provided in Adobe Acrobat format.  To retrieve them, you need to have the FREE Adobe Reader installed on your computer.  An explanation and link are provided in the Computer Glossary.

Helpful, but not essential, is some kind of graphics program that will let you manipulate quilt blocks or experiment with colors.  Electric Quilt or QuiltPro are specifically designed for this kind of work.  You can also use CorelDraw or other similar general-purpose graphics programs.
